The News
October 14th:Super! We just played Octoberfest, and boy was it super crazy, man. We lacked a bunch of the people, but we made up for it with Ben, some guy from Redwood, and Mr. Conner McGuire!
It was pretty cool, we played Stir it Up and What I Got for some reason... that was interesting. But now, we have one daunting task left. Now that many people are tired and not so interested anymore, maybe SGO will
take an official break until after the Hollidays. Otherwise, well, no, there isnt an otherwise. June 23rd:Well everyone, we came, we played, and we had a good time. The Oasis was great. The turn out was totally huge, even though no body was dancing and were only there because of some
friendship with someone in the band that needed to be maintained. A few people were dancing, like the east bay band, Go On Red, check em out in the links, with Angus Young! Thew Stank Covall (Kove-'Al)and I locked him in a Porto-Potty
once at band camp. Yeah we went to band camp! TWICE! Blame IT for turning me onto the ska. Anyway, if you werent at the Oasis, then you suck. We played our set, and they were like oh, you have hella more time, so we played
all these songs we didnt know to well. It was crazy cool man, and it bummed my trip major if youw werent there. Anyway, serious stuff is going down with the band. People are leaving who cant be replaced too well. A few people say
to end it, and start up Ska Glimmer Orchestra, and use the same SGO merch. I dunno, why even change the name. SGO cant happen without certain people, but why re start minus one or two with a different name? No sense. If you have any
ideas drop SGO an email. Another gig may or may not happen, check back here! June 13th:Gig at the Oasis on Friday the 20th! The Oasis is a fun little center for pre-pubesent teens to dance their little socks off and have their first moshing experiences! Actually
the show is a women who rock show, and because we have mia, aubyn, gracie, and amanda, which is almost half our band we somehow fall into the Women Who Rock category. Well Drake students will be rockin the
Cafe when all us women get up there and shoot at the walls of heartache. Yeah I AM THE WARRIOR... too bad most of our songs are about how women can really suck. oh well, email the band, or Matt will break you!
Strong woman, grrrrrrr! MAY 12th:OK! BIG NEWS! We are now fully equipped! Well, not saying that we weren't before.... but... well, We have the sound equipment needed to go giging on our own, and as summer
approaches, we have more and more time on our hands. That is why we are going to be lining up many shows where we can display our new songs, skills and neato drum kit. OOOH! And to kick off
our new tour of various parks, schools and restaurants, we are going to have a little contest to raise hype! All you have to do is tell someone about us, email your name and some way we can get a hold of you
with the name of the person you told to StarGlimmerOrchestra@hotmail.com with "Pick It UP!" in the subject line. Now, in order for your entry to be valid,
the person you told has to enter aswell, and they have to tell someone who has to enter, and so on. Also, include some neato message to make it interesting, maybe we'll post them.
Prizes will include newly cut CDs, shirts, stickers, random band personals, dates, and one lucky person will get to tour with us as an honorary glimmerer. Oh man, that is sooo cool! MAN! I'm jelous of the lucky
people who enter 'cause they will most likely win considering no one except for band members and family members go here. And they, mind you need not enter, cause they can't win. So all you friends and fans, start
sending those emails, one entry per person please! Now a Schedule for the Tour will be posted soon! Hey, also if you've got a good place to play, or would like us to appear somewhere, drop us a line! Meanwhile, we will be diligently
practicing!
April 24th: Well, here we are. It is late April, and yeah. We aren't practicing, because Matt has had a hemmorage in his anterior a.v. node. Unfortunate for his family,
because they must bear the expense of supporting, well, Matt. The rest of us are lazy, and although we could practice without Matt, it...well...wouldn't be the same. Well, it would smell better...
Maybe if you, the people of this fine... well not fine world, could motivate us and order CDs and sign the guestbook, we would get back into the groove of things and produce happening music for your
listening enjoyment once again. But, until then, we are just going to sit here, vegetating. Maybe sometime we will pick it up again, possibly for the Italian Street Painting Festival and Farmers Market.
But don't count on us sounding good if we cant practice. Aubyn is coming back in less than a month, though Ian's presence is grrrreatly appreciated. So all you girlfriends out there, force your boyfriend to
go to SGO practice... unless you are single... then call Tristan.
April 2nd: Battle of the Bands at Drake went pretty well, even though we played for 6 minutes, not even. Well the band is practicing a lot just for you! HAHAHA!
Good luck! we arent practicing, and even if we were it wouldnt be for you either! Its not about the music or the fans or the experience! ITS ABOUT THE CASH BABY! No, thats not true,
if it wasnt for the music, we wouldnt be doing any of this, the fans make it even better! yeah haha, fans... us? nah.
March 22 nd: Its been a long time hasn't it? Well now we are pickin it up! Drake Battle of The Bands this Thursday at Drake! And for all those people
who refuse to hear us because we sucked a year ago, please give us another chance. I think you will be suprised, probably not impressed though, you arrogrent bastards! Anyway,
we may be going back to The Great American Music Hall sometime soon! It should be better than last time, and we will try to get a better deal on the tickets and a more exact playing time,
Sorry to everyone who payed 15 bucks then came and we had already played. They screwed us, this time we'll do something about it... Yeah, so listen to our little radio in the music section, and
buy stuff so we can put gas in our SUVs... Just joshing, SGO does not indorse the use of such large automobiles. So, to all those people out there who visit the website who arent in the band, good for you!
You guys should all email us! That way we will know if all the hits on the site are actual fans and not just Gracie and Mia checking the guestbook. So yeah, see you on Thursday at Drake!
February 21st:Well pretty soon the whole band should be back soon! Ian is subing for Aubyn while she is at the Oxbow
art school. Well we haven't really been practicing cause everyone is gone... but there are more super cool songs on the way! Check out
the music section for an updated list of music and the new SGO Radio where you can preview music from our first CD! And please!
Sign the guestbook if you aren't in the band and give us some feedback. Or email us at StarGlimmerOrchestra@hotmail.com!
January 18th:Hoowie! After producing almost 200 CDs, selling around 50, and having an
awsome show on Friday, the band is pretty tired! The show was great! We played every song we could and then some.
Dustin, Jessica, Matt and Dave, played before us as well as a few songs by Mia. Everything sounded great! The show lasted a few hours and supported a
lot for Tristan's family! As we rest, go a head and buy a CD or a shirt, also check back here for more news on the way!
January 13th:Our gig at the Drake Little Theater is Friday the 17th of January.
We will be playing with Dustin Silva and his band along with Aubyn's Dad! Tickets go on sale at
6:30, and the show starts at 7:00. We will be selling our CDs!!!!! Cookies, drinks, shirts, stickers, and other fun stuff!
There will also be a raffle, $1 a ticket, with prizes such as Cds, Shirts, SGO panties, or maybe even a band member or two and more!
Admission is $5 for students, and $8 for adults, standard Little Theater prices! We hope to see you all there!
January 1st: Hello everyone! Happy New Year! January 17th is our gig at
Drake's Little Theater, we are going to be charging standard little theater
admission, sorry if that sucks. The Great American Music hall was great… We
gave them a big wad of money, and they stuck it into a big bag-o-cash without
counting it. We were talking about not
giving them some and keeping a little, I mean what's fifty out of a couple
hundred right? They get at least 500 per band! But because we all have hearts
of gold, we couldn't do it, much to the regret of many fans. However, after a great
live experience, a good quality yet poor sounding live CD, and the disappointment of many fans who paid
lots of money (which we could have gotten back) and missed the early show, it
was fun! oh well. So 2 weeks from now, hear all our songs and some new ones at
Drake at our benefit concert, also say goodbye to Aubyn who will be leaving to
go to an artsy fartsy school! Keep skankin'.
December 18th: Sorry it has been so long, yeah finals suck! Anyway, our gig went really well, people were dancing to it!
We probably didn't win anything because they never really called us afterward or anything, so thats to bad. But we had fun, and that is all that mattered!
We have a gig in January sometime in the Little Theater! Until then, over winter break we WILL record a CD and it WILL be done soon! We are also gonna do
more music, it should be fun! Well keep those emails coming! StarGlimmerOrchestra@hotmail.com
December 6th: The gig is really at 1:40! If anyone needs tickets, call ben... or order them here, and I'll call you!
December 3rd: Well the gig at Manor was grrreat! Yeah, if you dont believe me, then... well you stink! Pictures will arrive soon! Our gig at Exposure in the City will start between 1:40 and 2:40, so be there! Yeah, and buy more tickets!
November 19th: Hey everyone! I forgot to say that our gig on the 23rd, at Manor School will be at 1 o'clock, so be there, and do the cake walk, and hear us!
Also, please by tickets for "Exposure" battle of the bands December 8th, through the website or other bandmembers because they have told us that if we sell so and so tickets we will get a small, but rewarding percent
of the ticket proceeds. So yah, click Merchandise. Anyway, the band is practicing, and we are gonna loose a big chunck of our people soon, so The Great
American Music Hall Exposure Battle of the Bands may be our last gig as Tristan Douglas Banwell and The Star Glimmer Orchestra :*(.
November 7th: Hooray! Guess what?! We will be appearing at The Great American Music Hall, in San Fransisco on December 8th for the Battle
of the Bands! Its really cool! The winning band will recieve 6 hours studio time, which in this business is worth quite a bit! We are making due on
our CD which was recorded in the Studio at Drake (yes drake has a studio), and we are begining to mix it down. Hopefully our first demo will be out by
Thanksgiving! So yah recap, Gigs are: Nov 23rd Manor, Dec 8th San Fransisco! And please try to buy some merchandise online, I spent hours getting it to work,
and we desperately need the money!
November 1st: The gig went well! Despite the lack of Joe and Ben, but hey! We made 30 bucks! 10 of which was given to Tracy!
See some pictures in the Gallery. Gig on the 23rd, Manor, be there! Oh hey, Tristan is King now! So once again... GET ON YOUR KNEES AND BEG!
OCTOBER 18th: The Gig at Brookside is still happening tomorrow, just at 2:00! So make sure you are there at around 2, so
you can be early! Tracie D, from school is substituting for the absence of Ben and Joe, she will be playing tenor sax, and is guite good!
So make sure you come and see us play, and support the local school and arts! ALSO!! Tristan Banwell just got elected as a homecoming
prince at Drake! So show some love to Prince Tristan! NOW!
OCTOBER 12th: We have two gigs coming up on us fast! This Saturday, Octoberfest, October 19th, 2:30 at
Brookside Lower Campus in Sleepy Hollow. This is a fun event celebrating Halloween and local arts with fun activites, contests, art, food, and us!
For more info check out the Brookeside website.
Later next month on November 23rd, we will be playing at The Winter Craft Faire at Manor School in Fairfax. It is pretty much the same as
Octoberfest, just with a winter theme and fake snow! Well we start playing at 1:00! Be there or be square!
SEPTEMBER 26th: Hello everyone! We are practicing still, though rarely. We have a gig October 19, 2002
at October Fest at Brookeside Elementary School, lower campus. It is either in the morning or in the afternoon, and some
bandmembers might not be there but we will make do. More to come later!
SEPTEMBER 19th: Well, thank goodness it is so easy to hack into other people's internet
services. Anyway, we played at Film Night in Creek Park in San Anselmo on the 7th! It was really good! Expect some
great pictures in a new gallery sometime this or next weekend when i get my cable re-hooked up. Well we made a butt
load at Film Night, the whole t-shirt sales thing is working out pretty well so dont be afraid, just email me along with
some paypal or mail us cash and you too can be fashionally capable to walk the streets! Come on everyone! We need a new mic
stand!! SEPTEMBER 2nd: Well
as you all know, we played at Ted's last night, just a few buildings down from
the tragic fire. I don't know what happened but it probably sucked. Anyway, we
certainly didn't! We started at 7 and played for awhile running two sets! It
went very well, expect a re-mastered "Live At Ted's" CD soon! We brought in a
ton of people making about $150 in tips! A special thanks goes out to all the drunk
relatives who contributed! Also, a big thanks to Stephanie and everyone else
who helped out! Well Glimmer On y'all!! AUGUST 26th: We
are playing at Ted's restaurant Sunday Nite at 7:00 PM! Ted's is at 218 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
Go toward Ross (a.k.a. Yuppville)
from the Hub in San Anselmo, the antique capitol of the world, and you will see
it right away on the left, across from the park. At Ted's we will hopefully be playing about 2
half hour sets. We will also be selling
T-Shirts, stickers, and hopefully demo CDs.
AUGUST 24th: OK,
so we lied, actually, we didn't... We
called the Caffe Java, confirming our gig, and they said that we couldn't play...
SO, we left in disgust and crossed Sir Francis Drake to the renowned Ted's,
famous for their karaoke on Tuesday nights. We asked for a gig there and Ted himself excitedly agreed.
We ARE playing 7:00 PM Sunday, September 1st,
2002 at Ted's Restaurant. You have to
come and see us and buy some excellent food and/or drinks.
AUGUST 21st: Well
school has started and we have a gig!!!
We are playing at Caffe Java in Downtown San Anselmo on Saturday 24th.
Somewhere around Lunch time we will try to
run the set twice with a break in the middle.
It is free to get in but we suggest buying some fine coffee and/or
Italian soda as well as tipping the fine entertainment...
AUGUST 9th: We had
practice today and are recording up a storm... go to the Music
section to hear a few demos of covered RBF songs. We are also in the midst of do a studio cut
of Obla-di Obla-da.I promise it will sound a thousand times
better than what we have up now. The
songs are free, but the studio mixes may cost something, who knows... Hey! Email
Me if you want to be put on a mailing list, you can get free pictures, music
and what have you, just click HERE
and in the body tell me how much you like the band, and yah...
JULY 31st: Well
after hours and hours of scanning endless html and other code, the Guestbook finally works! YES! Oh and also Mia is a
full pledged member with photo and everything! Yay!
JULY 22nd: Tristan
is currently at cheerleading camp, no he is not really gay. He does like pansies
however. Hehe. Love ya Tristan! And we finally
updated this website. Happy upcoming birthdays to Ben and Jamie! You guys are finally 16! Congrads!
That's all for now glimmer fans...if there really are any out there! See ya on the flip side!!! Yo
dawg, peace out ma mo fo!
JULY 14th: Amanda
attended the Warped Tour today with an unnamed non-glimmerer.
She also hung out with the Reel Big Fish and the Mighty Mighty
Bosstones. However, much time was spent with the second best band in the world,
Handsome Devil*sigh*. Danny, Billie, Darren, and Keith were awesome and you
should all go out and buy their album "Love and Kisses from the Underground",
it rocks!
JULY 13th: Ben,
Matt, Tristan, and Jamie all attended the Warped Tour today. The Reel Big Fish
and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones were just a few of
the headliners. We have since contacted a trombonist, Mia J and she has decided
to be part of the glimmer cult, I mean, uhh...orchestra. hehe.
JULY 7th:
Practices are running smoothly. Jamie decided he was a mad guitar player and is
bustin' out some phat off
beats on his awesome death metal guitar. Some of us are gearing up for a big
weekend at Vans Warped Tour 2002. Hope to see you there!
JUNE 27th: We are
officially out of school. Yay! Band practices are
officially back in session after a long hiatus.
Valerie our flute enthusiast as some of you may remember has left us for UC
Berkeley. Ivy League smart ass! We love you Val! We are looking at new
material.
MAY 17th: Alright,
we didn't actually play at the second
Battle of the Bands, but some of us did happen to attend. It royally and
officially sucked ass. Nick P. our drummer has decided to leave us for another
"hardcore" band which, as it turns out, hasn't even been organized yet. Oh
well, his loss... Screw him, Nick sucks d*ck. We are currently on the look out
for new drummers and we are working on a "trash nick" kinda
song. Look for it in late July, mm...more like early August.
MAY 14th: Well
lets see, according to local rumor, there is another Battle of the Band
scheduled to make up for the debt made thanks to the Senior Class Prom. Well like the other event, all proceeds will
go to the Senior Class. With the idea
that the class of '02 are merely using the talents of us and the other
musicians to make up for their own reckless spending, many bands have decided
to not show up or even boycott the event, by playing outside the gym doors for
free. Tristan, Matt and I tried to talk
to the organizer of the event, JenicaMariani, yet she refused to speak with us. Weather the Star Glimmer Orchestra is also
going to take part in a boycott is undecided, but check back here for more
updates!
